On Australia Day my brother, mum and I went to the city to see the fireworks. We ended up sitting with our backs to the fireworks (because we weren't really told where they were going to be) but an oval was behind the area where we were, so we ran onto the oval and ended up getting a better view anyway!
I took a few photos near the river before the fireworks that I'm really proud of. I only have a small digital camera and I'm not a photographer at all, so I was really happy with how these turned out.
Here's some pictures of the fireworks:
I love fireworks, they're so beautiful. They remind me of how awesome it would be if this scene from FFXIII was possible :P
My brother Ryan, mum Karen and me
Anddd.. a selfie~
Afterwards we went to Pancake Parlour. I had a blue heaven ice-cream soda and a short stack with vanilla ice-cream. It tasted delicious, but I was so full afterwards I felt sick, but worth it haha
Overall, the night was great and the fireworks were beautiful!
I just finished work for the day and I'm hopefully going to see some fireworks tonight (if it doesn't rain) so I thought I'd do an Australia Day themed manicure!
The thumb and ring finger have the Union Jack and the other fingers are supposed to be the Southern Cross.
Today I went to get stuff for school and I saw Valleygirl was having a sale so I had a look and got 4 items for $35 and I also got a pair of sandals from Big W.
This top is quite thick but I like that there's no sleeves, so I can wear it with a cardigan easily. I love the peter pan collar! I got this for $9.95 was $14.95
The material of this top is like chiffon and it flows out. It's such a pretty hot pink colour!
I got this for $9.95 was $19.95
I love the bright blue colour and it was so cheap! I got it for $4.95 was $9.95
I have been looking for a jacket or cardigan with spikes for ages, but they were all so expensive so when I saw the price of this, I picked it up straight away! I got it for $9.95 was $19.95
My mum was looking for some new clothes for my brother, so while she was looking, I had a look at the shoes, I found these for $5! They were $9.94. They come in brown, white and black, but seems I don't have any brown sandals I decided to get the brown!
I had a little get-together with my high school friends for my birthday at the beach yesterday and I wore this manicure. It reminds me of a tequila sunrise or a sunset. The bad news is the ocean made my nails brittle and chipped some of the nail polish off, so I only got two pictures from the night before.
The colours used in this mani were:
Rimmel - Sunshine
Rimmel - Tangerine Queen
Rimmel - Hot Shot
Rimmel - Double Decker Red
Sally Hansen - Disco Ball
Ulta 3 - Disco Fever
But the good news is last year I did a very similar manicure which I haven't posted on this blog, so I have more high quality pictures from that manicure!
The nail polishes used in this mani were:
Rimmel - Sunshine
Rimmel - Tangerine Queen
NYC - Magenta
The Face Shop PP403
Sally Hansen - Disco Ball
I really like this design, the colours are warm and sunny and with the glitter it looks so pretty!
I'm getting better with my gradients! yay!
I hope you liked this mani! Any questions or requests? comment below :)
I know this isn't the type of thing I usually post but I thought if I did I may be able to help someone :)
I've been meaning to do this post for a while but every time I went to take the photos I ran out of something! But anyway, here is my blog post on non-medicinal ways to help your headache!
I suffer from headaches all the time, some are worse than others, but I do get them often. As I have been suffering from headaches for years, I have found some non-medicinal ways to help. Some are migraines and some are just at the back of my head and don't seem to go away, but however bad my headache is all these things help me. I hope that they help you too :)
Just before you read this, please know that I am not qualified with any degree (although I am currently doing my Diploma of Nursing). Everything I recommend here is through personal experience and trial and error.
Kool'n'Soothe Gel Sheets
After taking a tablet, the first thing I go for is these gel sheets. You just open the foil packet and take one sheet out, pull off the plastic and stick the blue gel to your forehead or back of the neck. They aren't too cold but are cold enough to give a cooling and soothing effect. They really do work. You get 4 sheets in one box (two in each foil packet). They are supposed to be used once but can be re-used but only if they are put back in the foil after a couple of hours. If you leave them somewhere for too long they will dry and wont work anymore. The gel sticks to your skin but not your hair and doesn't leave any residue. You can get these from Safeway. I highly recommend them!
Magnesium
As it says in this article, Dr. Oz recommends magnesium for headache sufferers because it 'relaxes arteries and muscles in the body' which is basically what is causing some headaches in the first place (tight muscles and arteries). I take one of these capsules every day. Not all Doctor's think that this is a good treatment for headaches, but it has been helping me, and even if it doesn't help your headache a little extra magnesium can't be bad for you.
Headache Balm
My mum got this headache balm from the market for me a while ago, and I think it really works! It smells like lavender mixed with other things and it is a really relaxing smell. I put it on my temples, at the back of my neck and the sides of my nose (it moisturizers there too!) I think it was about AUD $10.00. If anyone is interested in buying it, leave a comment and I'll get back to you.
Tea
Tea may seem like it wont do a thing to help your headaches, but if you enjoy tea regularly you know that sitting down with a cup of tea is really relaxing. Apparently caffeine helps headaches too, I can't remember where I heard this, but another excuse to have tea? yes please!
Massage
This one may be difficult if you can't afford it or live by yourself, but even if you massage your temples it can really help. If my headache is bad enough and since I live with my parents still, I sometimes ask mum to give my head and back a massage for about 15 minutes.
Get Comfy
When I have a migraine I like to sit on the couch with a comfy pillow and a cup of tea, and if it's not too hot a blanket. Being comfy is really important if you want to relax.
Do Something You Enjoy
If you know me personally or follow my twitter, you'll know that I don't go a day without watching my TV shows (right now I'm loving Pretty Little Liars). When I have a headache they help distract me and it honestly works. Anything you enjoy doing whether it's watching TV, reading, sunbathing or anything is really great to distract you from your headache.
Gentle Exercise
I'm not talking about going for a 30 minute jog but taking the dog for a slow walk can really distract you and afterwards you will feel more relaxed, plus the exercise will release endorphin's!
Leave Your Phone and Computer
The worst thing I can do when I have a headache is use my phone or laptop. It stresses your eyes and may be the cause for your headache in the first place.
Have a Bath or Shower
Having a shower and washing your hair can really help your headache. When you're in the shower let the water run on high pressure (if you can) and let the pressure of the water massage your head. Also, use a nice smelling body wash and you'll feel even better!
Know the Foods That Make it Worse and Make It Better
Basically the eat most category is the best kind of food to eat when you have a headache. Dairy and sweet things tend to make my headache worse so I stay away from them.
Hopefully if you have read this, you will try something out of these 11 ideas and it works for you!
Macbarbie07 on Youtube created a tag called 'Best of 2012' and I really wanted to do it, but not on Youtube, so I thought I'd post it here :) I listed the products and did a review and explanation for them as well :)
At the start of 2012 I wanted to start using a liquid product instead of just a powder on my face but I didn't want to use a foundation because every time I had used it in the past, it was really thick and I didn't like the feeling of it at all. I had heard of BB cream from The Face Shop, as they had given me a free sample, but I wasn't into it at the time and I thought it was basically a tinted moisturizer. But around the start of 2012, the famous Singaporean blogger Xiaxue blogged about the Garnier BB Cream (linked here). After reading her post I was really impressed with what she said and it was in my price range, so I decided I'd give it a try and I haven't stopped using it since. It blends well, has one for oily skin and one for regular skin, conceals, dries matte, lasts all day and my skin doesn't become oily and the end of the day like it used to! It's amazing!
2. Cheek product: Australias Blush
2012 was sort of the start of when I began to wear blush, so pretty much all year I've just been using a pink Australias blush.
3. Eye product: Maybelline Eyeliner
This eyeliner is the best eyeliner I have ever used. It's like a felt tip pen and the liquid is like a thin paint. But once it dries, it stays on through everything. I have worn this while working out, clubbing and it even lasted through my shower. It doesn't fade and won't come off until you wipe it off with makeup remover, it's awesome!
4. Lip Product: The Body Shop Lip Balm and Revlon Balm Stain
I couldn't choose between these two! But to be fair they do different things? haha
The Body Shop lip balm is really moisturizing and is made of beeswax, I really like it.
The balm stain is one of my favorites because you can layer the colour, whether you want a tint of the colour or full opacity you can. And it's not dry, easy to apply and stains, so I really like it.
Romantic, Smitten, Lovesick, Cherish
5. Skincare Product: Proactiv
I have been using Proactiv for a few years now with other cleansers and products in between but Proactiv is alwayd better than the rest. It really does clear my skin up and keeps it clear, unlike other products where my face would still break out while using them. Only two downsides though.. it's quite expensive and dries your skin a little bit, so if you use this, it would be good to invest in a good moisturizer as well.
6. Nail Polish: OPI Pink Friday
I have been using this nail polish all year round: summer, autumn, winter, spring. I think it's just soo pretty and you only need 1 coat to cover the nail. Plus it's one of Nicki Minaj's OPI polishes :P
7. Hair product: Marc Daniels Go Curly
If you put this stuff if your hair when it's damp and scrunch it into your hair and let it dry naturally, it works. Enough said.
8. Body product/Perfume: Vera Wang Princess
I got this perfume about 3 years ago now, but it's still my favorite. It smells amazing!
FASHION
9. Clothing piece: Forever New blue coat
I go to school in the city and I have to get the train in the early morning when it is absolutely freezing in winter, so my mum bought me this coat, it's so warm and reminds me of something on Gossip Girl, I love it!
10. Accessory: Heart necklace
I got this necklace a few years ago, but I still wear it all the time. It's just so pretty and goes with everything~
11. Pair of shoes: Corelli booties
I got this pair of boots this year (I think) when they were on sale from Williams. They go with soo many outfits and are comfortable and the heel isn't ridiculously big and I can make them dressy or casual, so I really love them!
RANDOM
12. Favorite TV Show/Movie: Pretty Little Liars
This show is amazing. There's so many twists, turns, unanswered questions, theories.. it's just soo good!
13. Favorite book:
Haven't read any this year really :( I've been so busy with school and work, but I really want to start reading again, I miss it. When I was a kid, I read Harry Potter 1-4 5 times each!
14. Food: Chocolate muffins
They're delicious.
15. Beverage: Chai latte
At work pretty much all year I have one of these, the Arkadia brand is really nice.
16. Favorite song: Make Me Proud - Drake Ft. Nicki Minaj
